What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our website. Your name, email address, phone number, the type of job and anything you include in your message. The form sends these details to our email inbox.
When you contact us by email or phone. Your contact details and whatever you tell us about the work you need.
When you become a customer. Contact details for you and anyone else involved in the job (for example a facilities manager, landlord or tenant contact), site addresses, access arrangements, job notes, photos of the installation, quotes, invoices and payment records, and the electrical certificates and reports we issue (such as Electrical Installation Certificates, Minor Works Certificates, EICRs and emergency lighting records).
When you use our website. Technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you arrived at the site. Some of this is collected through cookies (see "Cookies" below).
We do not ask for special category information (such as health information). Please don't include it in an enquiry.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry, arrange a survey and prepare a quote | Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interests in responding to business enquiries |
| Carry out the work, keep you updated, invoice and take payment | Performance of a contract |
| Issue certificates and reports, notify work where required, keep job, tax and accounting records | Legal obligation, and our legitimate interests in keeping accurate records of the work we've done |
| Deal with questions, warranty matters, complaints or claims about our work | Legitimate interests (and, where relevant, legal obligation) |
| Run, secure and improve our website, and understand which pages are useful | Legitimate interests (essential cookies), and your consent for analytics and advertising cookies |
| Measure whether our Google Ads lead to enquiries | Your consent, given through our cookie banner |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether those interests are outweighed by your rights, and we only use your information in ways you would reasonably expect.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not add enquiry details to marketing mailing lists, and we don't make decisions about you using automated decision-making or profiling.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 2 years from our last contact, then deleted.
- Customer, job and certification records: at least 6 years after the end of the financial year in which the job finished, to meet tax and legal requirements and to deal with any claims. Certificates and test records may be kept for longer, because they are evidence of the condition of an electrical installation and may be needed by you, a future owner or our certification body.
- Website and cookie data: for the periods set by each cookie or service (see "Cookies" below).
When information is no longer needed, we delete it securely.
Who we share it with
We only share personal information where it's needed, and our service providers may only use it to provide their service to us.
- Squarespace, which hosts our website and processes enquiry form submissions.
- Microsoft 365, which we use for email and file storage.
- Google, for Google Ads conversion measurement (only with your consent) and Google Search Console, which shows us how our site appears in search results.
- Elfsight, which provides the reviews widget on our website.
- Accounting and job management software providers, which we use to manage quotes, jobs, invoices and records.
- Partner contractors, only where needed for your job. For example, our specialist fire alarm partner, who carries out fire alarm design and commissioning.
- The local network operator (National Grid Electricity Distribution), where we make a supply application on your behalf.
- Our certification body (NICEIC), building control, insurers, accountants and professional advisers, where needed for assessments, notifications, claims or legal requirements.
- HMRC, the police or other authorities, where the law requires it.
International transfers
Some of our service providers store or access information outside the UK, for example in the European Economic Area or the United States. Where this happens, we make sure the transfer is protected by one of the safeguards recognised under UK law. These include UK adequacy regulations (which cover the EEA), the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How we keep it secure
We use reputable providers and password-protected accounts, and access is limited to the people who need it.
